The 34th anniversary since the formation of the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) kicks off across the globe today as millions of Somalis rejoice in this memorable day.
The Onlf was formed on the 15th of August 1984 in Muqdisho, Somalia as a political party fighting for the rights of Somalis living under Ethiopian occupation in the Ogaden. The organization evolved into an armed movement in 1994 and has been waging an armed struggle against the occupying Ethiopian military for close to a quarter century.
ONLF has offices in 5 continents and focus on many relevant issues in regards to the Ogaden such as advocacy, humanitarian issues and social issues that relate to the wider Ogaden community across the globe. The ONLF remain the sole representatives of the Ogaden.
