Halgan Media correspondents based in the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed in Fafaan province reveal over 100 IDP families have left the town of Tuliguuleed within the past 24 hours.
The displaced families have begun making there way back to there homes in the nearby village of Walgo, which is situated 20 kilometers away from Tuliguuleed. These families are a small fraction of the tens of thousands of Somali families languishing in and around the border town of Tuliguuleed after being ethnically cleansed from there homes in several nearby villages by Oromo paramilitary forces and Government backed death squads.
The decision made by over 100 families to abandon the makeshift IDP camp’s in Tuliguuleed comes after the Oromo paramilitary forces and allied militias operating in the vicinity of the abandoned and burned down village of Walgo finally withdrew there forces from the area according to local correspondents.
The families that returned to the village of Walgo have begun the process of rebuilding there burned down and bullet riddled homes. The current situation still remains uncertain for the IDP families knowing peace is never guaranteed for Somalis residing on the volatile Somali-Oromo border region.
We will keep you updated with the latest developments from the region.
