Insurgents from the Al Qaeda affiliated armed group Al Shabaab carried out a series of attacks targeting Foreign troops in occupied southern Somalia. The militants reportedly launched attacks on Kenyan and Burundian troops stationed in the south of the country.

Al Shabaab gunmen launched an assault on Kenyan troops in Kulbiyow town in the Lower Jubba province of Somalia. The brunt of the clashes reportedly took place at a Kenyan army base in the vicinity of the town. However casualties are unclear at the moment.

Similarly insurgents carried out a brazen assault on a AMISOM base in the village of Buurane in Somalia’s Middle Shabelle province housing foreign forces from Burundi. Fierce clashes between both sides followed the assault on the base according to local media reports.

The armed group Al Shabaab  took credit for both attacks. The claim of responsibility was broadcasted on a pro militant website dubbed Somali Memo.
