Local contacts based in the Bakool province of Somalia in the southwest of the country have just informed the Halgan Media service desk that an encounter erupted between government troops and Al Shabaab fighters near the Farag locality, sparking fierce clashes.

The clashes took place within the past 20 minutes after a group of Al Shabaab fighters launched an assault on a unit from the Somali national army in the heavily contested area, per sources.

Sources that spoke to Halgan Media on condition of anonymity confirm one government soldier was killed in the encounter, while four more troops where wounded.

The fate of the Al Shabaab fighters that carried out the attack is unknown at the moment and are said to have dispersed following the encounter.
