When my ears hear the word Jail Ogaden i think of the prison in Jigjiga. It pains me every time I think about Jail Ogaden because it’s a place where people are brutalized and only few survive.
There’s also another prison similar to Jail Ogaden in the city of Goday in Shabelle province, in which civilians are illegally imprisoned and subsequently tortured, killed and raped.
Jail Ogaden in Jigjiga and the prison in Goday is a broader picture of the situation in Ogaden.
Imagine an open air prison in which its inhabitants are subjugated, brutalized and denied freedom. This is the cold reality only few understand.
