A botched robbery led to the death of one Chinese national and left another man wounded, according to a statement published by the Chinease embassy in Addis Ababa. The incident occurred at Industrial Park located in the town of Dukem in the volatile Oromo region.
Per Ethiopia’s Chinese embassy the Chinese nationals where attacked by several armed men whose identities remain unknown, while inside industrial Park. The attempted robbery ensued into a scuffle, which left one man dead and another wounded. Both victims are Chinese nationals. The culprits fled the scene shortly afterwards.
The identities of the victims have not been released yet due to confidentiality purposes. The Oromo Regional State and the Federal Government of Ethiopia are yet to comment on the latest round of violence targeting Foreign nationals.
On the other hand, the Oromo region of Ethiopia has been rocked by vast lawlessness in recent months. Bandits, paramilitaries and rogue militias have continued to cause havoc in the region, which has left scores dead and thousands displaced.
