Four children where killed in a blast from a land mine in the city of Goday in the Shabelle province of the Ogaden region.
Local residents reveal the group of children where playing with the unexploded ordnance prior to the blast. The children numbering a total of four where killed instantly in the blast.
Smoke was spotted billowing over the sky just moments after the blast. The tragic incident occurred in the “Xafaada 7aad” neighborhood according to locals that spoke with Halgan Media.
A similar incident occurred in March 2019 in the city of Dhagaxmadow in Jarar province, when a mother and her three children where killed in a blast from a land mine.
The Ogaden has been plagued by conflict for several decades and there still remains countless unexploded ordnance’s such as land mines left behind from decades of conflict, despite the current peace in the region.
