Clashes erupted overnight near the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed according to local residents. The clashes where a result of a cross border raid carried out by Militiamen from the neighboring Oromo regional state.

Local contacts reveal the Oromo militants attempted to lay siege on the village of Ceelmaal, sparking skirmishes with local Somali pastoralists. The clashes ceased shortly afterwards, once the Oromo militia fighters fled after firing a hail of bullets.

Despite being under equipped, the Somalis where able to repel the cross raid with small arms according to residents in the village of Ceelmaal that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity.

The Halgan Media service desk reached out to authorities in the capital Jigjiga for comment but are yet to receive a response.

The Somali border town of Tuliguuleed and the surrounding villages have fallen victim to relentless cross border raids in recent years and witnessed horrific atrocities at the hands of fanatical right wing Oromo Paramilitary Forces.
