Halgan Media correspondents based in the Ogaden reveal Ethiopian troops have flooded into several villages surrounding the border town of Tuliguuleed in Fafaan province and demanded civilians lay down there arms.

Ethiopian military contingents entered numerous rural villages surrounding the town and ordered all the inhabitants of these villages to hand over there arms to federal forces.

The villagers refused the order to disarm, later on the Ethiopian troops withdrew from the Somali inhabited villages surrounding the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed and are currently camped outside the the villages in makeshift outposts according to local residents.

Halgan Media correspondents on the ground reveal a worrisome atmosphere for the besieged residents of Tuliguuleed. The Somali border town of Tuliguuleed has been relentlessly besieged by Oromo paramilitary forces and allied militias for the past few months as a result of deadly cross border raids targeting Somalis residing on the volatile Ogaden-Oromo border region.

The decision by Ethiopian military contingents demanding Somalis in that area of the border region to disarm rung alarm bells among many and sparked fear of what’s to come next. It’s still not clear who this order came from.
