Confirmed reports received from the occupied NFD region reveals the first case of COVID19, commonly referred to as the Coronavirus has been discovered in the city of Wajir.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman confirmed the discovery of the deadly disease according to state owned media outlets.

In a similar fashion, the governor of Wajir in the NFD region Mohamed Abdi Mohamud also confirmed the outbreak of the disease in his jurisdiction during a televised press conference.

The man has been identified as a 36 year old that lived in Mogadishu. He was later detained at the colonial border between Somalia and the NFD region, after attempting to cross over.

Upon being detained in the border town of Dif in the Lower Jubba province of Somalia. It was discovered that the man originally hailed from the city of Garissa in the NFD region.

The individual was than immediately transferred to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campus in the city of Wajir (NFD region).

The man than tested positive for COVID19, while being quarantined at KMTC according to Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud.

This latest discovery has sent shock waves across the Somali peninsula. A man with COVID19 travelled from Mogadishu to the Lower Jubba province, possibly infecting thousands of people during his journey.

It’s still not clear who this individual came in contact with on his journey. Authorities in the capital Mogadishu and the autonomous Jubbaland region of southern Somalia are yet to address these disturbing developments.
