Scores of people where killed in a grenade attack in the district of Diinsoor in Somalia’s Bay province according to local contacts.
Sources that spoke with Halgan Media reveal unknown assailants hurled a hand grenade at a venue jam packed with people celebrating Eid festivities.
The subsequent blast from the grenade left four dead. Victims included a prominent local official, innocent bystanders, which include young children.
Following the grenade attack, the assailants fled the scene on foot and vanished into the adjacent neighborhoods.
Sources confirm the chairman of the Women’s Association of Diinsoor (WAD), identified only as “Baarliin” died in the blast.
Two other adult individuals where killed in the bomb blast. The pair have been identified as Rashid Ufurow and his spouse Fadumo. Two young children also perished in the horrific attack, who are yet to be identified.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, however the Al Qaeda affiliated Militant group Al Shabaab routinely carries out brazen attacks of this nature.
