Heavily armed Oromo Militants brandishing Klashnikov assault rifles launched a cross border border raid overnight targeting the rural village of Daraami in Fafaan province.

Local contacts reveal the first wave of attacks occurred shortly after Maqrib prayer in which Oromo Militants began besieging the outskirts of Daarami village. Somali villagers engaged in a pitched battle with the invading Militants, which led to the deaths of two Oromo Militants according to eyewitnesses.

The second violant wave of attacks came shortly afterwards. This time the Oromo Militants where traveling in about half a dozen Toyota pickup trucks and began indiscriminately opening fire on Somalis as they approached the village of Daraami. The Somali villagers responded by letting loose a barrage of small arms fire, which struck down several Oromo Militants in a hail of bullets.

The invading Oromo Militants where spotted retreating in there bullet riddled Toyota pick up trucks moments after the violant encounter according to eyewitnesses. Local Somali villagers stripped the Klashnikov assault rifles from the bodies of the dead Oromo’s following the clashes. A total of 9 dead bodies where found in the field.

The village of Daraami sits on the outskirts of the strategic Somali border town of Tuliguuleed and has been the scene of bitter fighting and blatant War Crimes committed against innocent Somali civilians at the hands of paramilitary forces and allied militias from the neighboring Oromo Regional State.

The Somali Galbeed Regional Administration led by the pseudo leader Mustafa Omar (Cagjar) is yet to address the plight of fellow Somalis in the border town of Tuliguuleed and the surrounding villages, which is cowardice on his part or simply a sign of complicity !

We will keep you updated with the latest developments from the region.
