Oromo militia fighters gunned down a young Somali man overnight in the Somali border town of Jinacsani, situated in Fafaan province.
Local contacts have identified the victim as Ali Ibrahim. The victim is said to hail from the nearby Somali border town of Tuliguuleed, which is about 20 kilometers away from where he was murdered in Jinacsani.
Ali was reportedly in Jinacsani for a routine visit to family and friends. Upon leaving Jinacsani he was stopped by ethnic Oromo bandits while traveling on the outskirts of the border town whilst in route to Tuliguuleed.
Upon being stopped by the gunmen, Ali was shot repeatedly dead. His body found just hours later in a nearby wooded area.
Various armed Oromo factions and allied militia groups routinely carry out wanton massacres and killings targeting Somalis in the border region.
This latest extra judicial killing of a young Somali man is one of the many gruesome killings carried out in recent memory.
