Deadly clashes rocked the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed in Fafaan province. Paramilitary forces from the neighboring Oromo regional state launched a brazen cross border raid targeting the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed.
Local contacts that spoke with Halgan Media reveal the Oromo Paramilitaries besieged the border town in the middle of the night when most residents where sleeping. The Somalis in the border town of Tuliguuleed attempted to repel the cross border raid but where over powered by the heavily armed Oromo Paramilitaries.
One Somali was killed in the ensuing clashes, while five others layed wounded in a pool of blood. Following the deadly cross border raid, the paramilitaries retreated from the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed.
The sounds of gunfire woke up many of the town’s residents. Local contacts that spoke Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal residents in the town remain fearful following the latest cross border raid.
Tonights attack on Tuliguuleed is the 4th cross border raid within the past two weeks alone. The Somali border town of Tuliguuleed situated 25 kilometers North of the capital Jigjiga has been routinely besieged by Oromo Paramilitaries and allied militias over the past few years.
Several nearby villages surrounding the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed have been completely abandoned in recent years after they where torched to the ground during cross border raids at the hands of violent right wing Oromo paramilitaries.
