A series of clashes rocked the Somali border town of Salaxaad in Erer province. Halgan Media reporters based in the Ogaden reveal the skirmishes which began last night, where ignited once again today.
Confirmed reports reaching the Halgan Media service desk reveal nearly two dozen people where killed in and around Salaxaad within the past 24 hours alone. The brunt of that fighting unraveled this morning.
A confrontation between clan militias hailing from opposing sides escalated into full blown clashes. However in the midst of the clashes, eyewitnesses reveal the Liyuu Police paramilitary force arrived on the scene in a bid to quell the warring sides.
That intervention proved to be futile as some of the clan militiamen began opening fire on the paramilitaries, sparking a subsequent skirmish on the outskirts of Salaxaad.
The casuaties from the first round of clashes between the clan militias remain unknown. Likewise the casualties, if any from the ensuing clashes between the Paramilitaries and the militias are unclear at the moment.
Todays latest round of clashes comes after similiar violence flared up overnight leaving scores dead. A suspected clan fueled killing also occurred within the vicinity of the same town (Salaxaad) on Thursday as reported by the Halgan Media service desk.
