Halgan Media correspondents based in the Somali border town of Danlaheylay in Sitti province reveal there’s an intense stand off in a nearby village. Local correspondents reveal the standoff is between Afar regional state paramilitary forces that have crossed into the Somali region (Ogaden) and Somali villagers armed with light weapons.

Both sides are reportedly facing off in a village 15 kilometers away from the Somali border town of Danlaheylay according to local contacts. The Afar regional state paramilitary forces are heavily armed with an array of weapons and Toyota pick up trucks. On the other end local Somali villagers have taken the bold step to confront these invading mercenaries and are brandishing AK-47 assault rifles.

Residents in the Somali border town of Danlaheylay and the surrounding villages are fearful of clashes erupting at any moment. It was less than 24 hours ago when Halgan Media reported a movement of Afar paramilitary militias outside the Somali border town of Alaale, situated in Sitti province.

Paramilitary forces and allied militias from the neighboring Afar Regional State continue to conduct violent incursions and cross border raids as they terrorize Somalis. In spite of these dangerous developments, the Criminal regime in Jigjiga led by Mustafa Cagjar continues to ignore the plight of fellow Somalis languishing in Sitti province.

We will keep you updated with the latest developments from the region.
