According to statement published by the state owned FANA broadcasting corporation, 16 out of the 100 migrants that died in the Mediterranean Sea after there boat capsized on the 25th of July are natives of Ethiopia’s Tirgray region.
FANA was citing a statement from Tigray region’s government communications office. The statement went further by revealing 10 out of the 16 victims where women.
The statement from the Tigray region has also confirmed that all of the victims are from Irob district, which in the eastern part of the Tigray region, which is adjacent to the border with Eritrea.
Despite Ethiopia’s so called reformist Govt spearheaded by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, the nation has one of the highest exodus of migrants in Africa.
