A reconciliation agreement has been agreed upon between the Ethiopian government and Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) in a closed door meeting held in Asmara, Eritrea.

The Ethiopian government has now signed a reconciliation agreement to end hostilities with the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) exiled leader, Dawud Ibsa, who is based in Asmara. The agreement further states tha the OLF will conduct its political activities in Ethiopia through peaceful means, besides agreeing to establish a joint committee to implement the agreement.

The OLF group declared a unilateral ceasefire last month after parliament removed it from a list of banned terrorist groups that it had been part of since 2008. The OLF has been waging an armed struggle against consecutive Ethiopian regimes for the right to self determination for the Oromia region of Ethiopia.
