Residents in the town of Ceel Waaq in Gedo province reveal a massive movement of KDF where spotted entering the town overnight. Local contacts that spoke on anonymity say KDF troops crossed over from the NFD region in droves.
The troops where spotted traveling in eleven armored convoys and twenty four trucks. The troop movement comes as a surprise to many locals, following KDF withdrawal from multiple military bases in Gedo province earlier this year.
Kenya’s National Defense (KDF) invaded Somalia in 2011 and has tens of thousands of troops occupying large swaths of territory in Southern Somalia til this day. Kenyan troops operating in Gedo province and the Jubba valley are notoriously known for committing Extrajudicial killings, War Crimes and indiscriminate bombings of rural villages.
Neither the Jubaland regional administration or Somalia’s central government have commented, let alone addressed Kenya’s latest incursion into Somalia.
