A burst of gunfire erupted in the village of Buurane in southern Somalia, when suspected militants carried an attack on Foreign troops from Burundi.

Sources that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal suspected jihadist militants from Al Shabaab opened fire on a contingent of AMISOM troops from Burundi while on a routine foot patrol. One soldier from Burundi was struck in a hail of bullets and bled out on the scene in a pool of blood.

The gunmen fled the scene shortly after the attack. The Foreign troops cordoned off the area following the shooting. Sources informed the Halgan Media service that Burundian troops where spotted on the move in the nearby town of Mahadaay following the attack in the rural village of Buurane.

Burundian troops carry out routine foot patrols in and around the village of Buurane, situated in Shabelle Dhexe province. This has made the Burundian troops a prime target of the Al Qaeda affiliated militant group Al Shabaab, which knows the terrain well.

As of the moment, Al Shabaab have not officially claimed responsibility for the attack. However reliable sources with intricate knowledge of the armed group reveal the militants are expected to claim responsibility in the next few hours, based on claims made by the militant group in the past regarding similar attacks.
