Several blasts followed by gunfire where heard in the vicinity of Bariire, situated in the volatile Lower Shabelle province of Somalia. Local contacts based in the area informed the Halgan Media service desk that smoke was spotted billowing over the sky shortly after the encounter.
It’s still not clear what led to the encounter or which parties where involved. Local sources where unable to access the sight of the alleged encounter due to the area being entrenched with land mines. However it’s widely believed the clashes where between suspected militants and Somali government troops or AMISOM forces.
