Paramilitary forces from the neighboring Afar regional state launched a cross border targeting a rural village outside the Somali border town of Garbo Ciise.

As reported yesterday on our Af Somali section, the clashes erupted mid afternoon when Afar Paramilitaries besieged the village of Madane just outside the border town of Garbo Ciise.

Local residents that spoke with Halgan Media reveal the paramilitaries stormed the village of Madane and began indiscriminately opening fire on everything in sight, including women and children. At least three Somali villagers where struck in a hail of bullets and layed wounded in a pool of blood.

Following the assault on the village, the paramilitaries withdrew shortly afterwards. Residents that witnessed the cross border raid unfold informed the Halgan Media service desk that all three victims where taken to the nearby Somali border town of Garbo Ciise for treatment and are currently languishing in a makeshift clinic.

The latest cross border raid targeting the village of Madane comes just four days after a similar incident targeting the nearby village of Alaale. In both incidents Somalis where besieged on there land and in there homes, however authorities in Jigjiga continue to turn a blind to these atrocities unfolding in the border region, which many view as a sign of complicity.
