Al Shabaab fighters shot a man dead in a extrajudicial killing overnight in southwest Somalia, sources confirm.
Sources that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal the individual was transporting Khat in a truck, when he was stopped by insurgents at the locality known as “Mundul Abshirey” in the Bay region.
Upon encountering the insurgents, the individual was pulled out of the truck and summarily executed on the spot. The vehicle carrying the Khat was subsequently set ablaze.
Local contacts with intricate knowledge on the matter confirm the individual was destined for the town of Diinsoor prior to encountering the insurgents.
The armed group Al Shabaab routinely carry out summarily executions targeting those that indulge in the use of Khat or transport the narcotics.
