Fierce clashes erupted mid afternoon today in the Somali border town of Danlaheylay in Sitti province, following a cross border raid by bandits and paramilitaries from the neighboring Afar Regional State.
Local contacts in the Somali border town of Danlaheylay have informed the Halgan Media service desk that heavily armed Afar Militants brandishing weapons launched an attack on the town. The locals in the town of Danlaheylay where able to repel the cross border raid with small arms fire according to eyewitnesses.
Two Somalis where wounded in the ensuing clashes, that sparked a bitter fire fight. The invading Afar Militants retreated following the failed incursion into the Somali border town of Danlaheylay. The two victims that sustained gun shot wounds have been identified as Waberi Geeri Aden and Ciida Hareed Gurgur.
The latest attack on the Somali border town of Danlaheylay, comes less than 24 hours after Halgan Media reported a tense standoff unfolding between local Somali villagers and paramilitary forces in a nearby village yesterday. That standoff as reported yesterday has led to a violent cross border raid targeting the town of Danlaheylay today.
