Ethiopian State Media FANA is reporting authorities have seized 4,992 bullets meant for Pistols in the town of Metema, on the border between northern Ethiopia and Sudan.
Authorities claimed the ammunition was being smuggled in from the volatile border with Sudan, which has been rocked by unrest in recent weeks. The Khartoum based government of Sudan is yet to respond to the accusations from Addis Ababa.
Large amounts of weapons and ammunition’s have been getting seized in Ethiopia over the last few months, as illegal weapons flood into the country.
