A late night raid on house in the Jarrato neighborhood lead to the disappearance of two local Quran teachers.
The abduction took place shortly after mid night in the northern Somali city of Hargeysa. Local contacts that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal masked gunmen described as RRU paramilitaries stormed the home, prior to whisking the Quran teachers away in an unmarked vehicle.
The Quran teachers described to be in there mid 30’s are well known in the neighborhood of Jarrato and hold daily Madrassa classes free of charge to disadvantaged and poverty stricken youth in the neighborhood.
After the abduction, the masked gun men disappeared in the same vehicle as the one carrying the abductees. It’s still not clear why the Quran teachers where targeted. As of now, the victims are not known to have any political affiliation, which makes the abductions even more suspicious.
The Halgan Media service desk has decided not to release the names of victims to protect the confidentiality of the family and relatives.
Who are the RRU ?
The RRU is a British backed Paramilitary force. The special unit is funded, trained and equipped by Britain. The paramilitaries operate under the banner of the Separatist enclave in northern Somalia known as Somaliland. They routinely engage in counter terrorism operations throughout the north of the country.
The latest abductions of the Quran teachers in Hargeysa is not an isolated incident. Following the 9/11 terror attacks, the CIA began arming warlords in Somalia under the guise of the war on terror.
As a result this reckless initiative only fueled the conflict in Somalia and led to the deaths of thousands as the US waged its proxy war in the country. Hundreds of religious scholars, Sheikhs and ordinary civilians also disappeared. Most likely handed over to the Americans under the pretext of the war on terror.
Nowadays, instead of propping up warlords the US and there British counterparts use Paramilitaries to do there bidding. These Paramilitary groups masquerade under the names of Danab, RRU and many more. RRU operates as British proxy in the North of the country, while Danab is a US backed paramilitary militia in the south.
Both paramilitary factions are complicit in extrajudicial killings, human rights abuses and dissaparences.
