The Somali government has opened up international flights to the country as of yesterday August 3rd, however they’ve attached a series of conditions in the wake of the COVID19 pandemic.

The Mogadishu based Central government has announced anybody coming into the country must have a health document that verifies the individual is free from COVID19.

Furthermore, the document needed must state that the individual at hand tested negative for COVID19 within the past 72 hours. If the health document does not state the person has tested for COVID19 within the past 72 hours, than the individual will be turned back and not allowed to exit the airport grounds.

Somalia reportedly has one of the lowest COVID19 deaths in the world, with a total of 92 deaths recorded by the Ministry of Health, however many health experts have challenged those claims and accused the government of down playing the real number of COVID19 deaths in the country.

International flights to Somalia where banned on March 12th of this year as the COVID19 pandemic gripped the world, killing hundreds of thousands.
