A bomb blast targeting Ethiopian Forces struck a convoy outside the city of Baydhabo in Bay province according to local contacts that spoke with Halgan Media. The explosive device is believed to be a roadside bomb or improvised explosive device (IED).

Locals that reached out to the Halgan Media service desk reveal the impact of the blast was heard throughout the city of Baydhabo. The casualties remain unknown due to the Ethiopian troops cordoning off the area following the bomb blast. Heavy movement of Ethiopian troops was spotted in the area shortly afterwards.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Locals suspect Al Shabaab of being behind the bombing. The militant rebel group Al Shabaab is known to frequently carry out attacks targeting the Foreign troops occupying Somalia, in particular those from neighboring countries.

Around 30,000 Ethiopian troops are currently in Somalia and subsequently occupying large swaths of territory in the country. The Ethiopian Forces are notorious for committing War Crimes, Extrajudicial Killings and Rapes targeting civilians. Tit for tat skirmishes and clashes between the militant group Al Shabaab and occupying Ethiopian Forces regularly take place in volatile Southern Somalia.
