Fierce fighting has been ongoing on the outskirts of Jigjiga in Fafaan province for the past two days. Oromo paramilitary militia’s continue to launch relentless attacks on Somali pastoralists in rural towns in the area.
The brunt of the clashes which erupted two days ago is being waged in the towns of Cuusweyne and Feeecaade. Eye witnesses reveal armed Oromo militia’s are attacking Somali civilians, which has sparked a fierce wave of violence.
The total number of casualties on the Somali side is 12 but the number is expected to increase if fighting continues, while scores of Oromo militiamen have been killed. Halgan Media has been able to obtain the names of 5 out of the 12 victims, which are listed below.
