Kenyan fighter jets launched a series of strikes hitting the periphery of Ceel-Waaq district in Gedo province of Somalia. Local contacts reveal three separate airstrikes rained down on the village of Xirsi Guur, which is situated 20 kilometers from the district of Ceelwaaq.

Local sources that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal, the first round of strikes occurred yesterday evening shortly after the Maqrib prayer service. The second strike occurred a couple hours later in the middle of the night while the village residents where sleeping and livestock put away.

The third strike was the most devastating and occurred in the early morning hours today, which led to a communication black out after the Kenyan airstrike on the village of Xirsi Guur obliterated a cell phone tower owned by Hormud Telecom according to local contacts.

The aftermath of the third airstrike led to the village of Xirsi Guur completely loosing cellular service and access with the outside world, making it impossible to contact residents in the vicinity of the aerial bombardment. However local contacts based across the border in the NFD region, which is situated adjacent to the village of Xirsi Guur near the Ceel- Waaq district of Somalia reveal dozens of families have already begun fleeing to the nearby border.

Most of families consist of rural pastoralists that once called the village of Xirsi Guur home. Upon crossing into the NFD region, some of the survivors spoke with Halgan Media correspondents on condition of anonymity revealing terrify accounts reminiscent of Syria’s Idlib province.

Survivors claimed the third round of strikes this morning where the most devastating and resembled the hallmarks of Kenya’s invasion of Somalia in 2011 dubbed Operation Linda Nchi, which left thousands of innocent civilians dead. One women who was carrying a child on her back, encountered a Halgan Media correspondent and revealed they’re still fearful of returning home to the village of Xirsi Guur knowing Kenyan war planes are still hovering over the skies.

The Halgan Media service desk will be publishing photos from the bombed out village of Xirsi Guur shortly, when our correspondents reach the afflicted area.
