An irregular movement of aircraft has been spotted flying over the Wanlaweyn district, which is adjacent to the nearby US drone base at the Balidogle air field in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle province.

Local contacts based in Wanlaweyn reveal numerous planes have been flying over the district during the past few days. The locals in Wanlaweyn confirm large military style planes hovering non stop over the district, prior to whisking away in the direction of Balidogle.

On numerous occasions, the noise made by these planes, which are presumed by many of the locals to be military aircraft have kept residents up at night according to locals in Wanlaweyn that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity.

The recent flare up in activity at the Balidogle air field, which hosts America’s largest drone base in Somalia, comes shortly after US president Donald Trump announced an immediate withdrawal of US troops from Somalia.
