The road connecting the Amhara regional state and the Tigray regional state in northern Ethiopia is closed for several days now according to a report by Voice of America Amharic service.
The report which is published yesterday reveals vehicles have been unable to move freely for about four days now due to the closure. This comes as tension between both regional states (Amhara and Tigray) has been increasing at an alarming rate after violence erupted ethnic Amhara’s and Tigray security forces in the town of Almata two weeks ago.
Both sides have been throwing accusations at each other, which has put the relationship between both regional states at a standstill. The closure of the main road connecting both regions will only add fuel to the fire.
We will keep you updated with the latest developments and updates from the region.
