Abdifatah Sheekh Ibrahim has been appointed the new Mayor of Jigjiga in Fafaan province. The new Mayor was reportedly hand picked by the upper echelons of the Somali regional state.
Not much is known about Abdifatah Sheekh Ibrahim, but he’s been described by many as being well acquainted with the youth. His appointment as Mayor comes at a time, in which the Somali regional state has been facing growing public backlash due to there incompetence.
A list of challenges await the Mayor, such as installing proper sanitation, housing problems and the massive influx of IDP’s in the city that have created a burden on the local administration in Jigjiga.
