Godey (Halgan Media) – Liyuu Police paramilitary forces indiscriminately opened fire on civilians in the town of Bayaxow in Shabelle province, leaving three people dead and scores more wounded.
Local correspondents based in Shabelle province reveal the Liyuu Police paramilitaries attempted to violently remove families from there homes in the town of Bayaxow, which sparked a confrontation with the locals.
The Liyuu Police opened fire in the midst of the heated confrontation, leaving three people dead. One of the deceased victims include a mother of nine children. The wounded civilians, which numbered several where transfered to the provincial capital of Godey for medical treatment.
Halgan Media correspondents based in the Ogaden confirm the victims from Bayaxow mainly consist of rural pastoralists that where previously uprooted and displaced from there homes by the Ethiopian military to clear up space for Oil exploration sites.
The local officials overseeing Shabelle province have not addressed the gruesome killings in the region. Likewise authorities in the capital Jigjiga remain tight lipped over this latest incident.
