Up to 30 members and supporters of the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) remain under detention in the town of Shaygosh in Qorahay province, according to a statement published today on the Ogaden News Agency (ONA).

The detainees number around 30, with the bulk of the victims being civilians and supporters of the liberation front. Per the report published on ONA a number of ONLF members remain under detention as well. Some of the detainees have been identified as Xiis Macalin Maxamed, Xiis Cabdi Dahir and Abdinasir Maxamed Fatulle.

The report published on ONA went on to say arrests targeting ONLF members and there supporters have increased in frequency over the past few days and weeks. The Somali regional state (Ogaden) based in the capital Jigjiga is yet to address these rampant human rights abuses unfolding in the region.
