Heavily armed Oromo gunmen launched a series of simultaneous cross border attacks targeting three separate Somali farming villages in Faafan province of the neighboring Somali regional state this past Friday night, residents say.
Eyewitness that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal the armed militiamen layed siege to the following farming villages of Sandacare, Uusweyne and Hoosaale, which are situated in the periphery of the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed, which is 25 kilometers north of the capital city of Jigjiga.
Once the smoke cleared, a total of four Somalis where left dead, while three others where left wounded. The individuals that where wounded in the attack but lucky to survive are currently being treated at a make-shift health clinic in the town of Tuliguuleed according to local residents.
The latest brazen and indiscriminate attack targeting Somali villagers on the porous border region comes just a month after a similar attack carried out by violent Oromo militia groups left five Somalis dead and wounded in the same area. (Click link for more information)
Ethiopia’s fledgling government and there proxies in the Somali regional state (Ogaden) are yet to address the issue, let alone take concrete action to stop or even deter these violent cross border raids targeting Somalis, which many view as a sign of complicity.
