Ethiopian military convoy traveling through the town of Muji in Ethiopia’s Wollega province came under attack by unknown assailants, when a Grenade was hurled at government troops as they passed through the town according to a report published by the Afaan Oromo branch of the BBC news service.

A total of 6 people where killed with scores more wounded. The deceased victims have been identified as civilians and non combatants. The reason behind the attack is unclear. Local officials in the town blamed Militant Rebels hailing from the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) rebel movement of carrying out the attack.

Despite the OLF Rebel movement splintering into various factions, not a single branch of the militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack or come out and denied the allegations.

Wollega province, which is situated in Ethiopia’s southwest has remained volatile over the past few months. Various Oromo insurgent groups and a faction of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) have waged a low level insurgency against the Ethiopian government led by Abiy Ahmed, also an ethnic Oromo.
