Confirmed reports received from the port city of Kismaayo in the Lower Jubba province reveals a suicide bomber detonated an explosives vest at a mosque targeting regional officials.
Local correspondents based in Kismaayo confirm a suspected militant approached the Al-Qadim Mosque and detonated his explosive vest as Shafi Rabi Kahin, the Chairman of Jubaland Chamber of Commerce was existing the Mosque with his guards.
At least three people, including the suicide bomber died instantly in the blast, while nearly a dozen others where wounded. The brunt of those wounded are said to be the guards of Shafi Rabi Kahin who was among those severely wounded in the blast.
Security forces arrived at the scene, shortly after the blast carrying away the dead and injured. The remains of the suicide bomber where found nearby according to eyewitnesses.
