Two insurgent groups have signed a peace deal with Ethiopia’s Government after talks in Asmara, Eritrea. The two insurgent factions at the negotiating table where the Afar Liberation Front and the Gambella Liberation Front.
Both armed groups inked separate deals with Ethiopia’s Government, in which all sides would end hostilities according to Ethiopia’s Defence Minister, Aisha Mohammed in a televised broadcast aired on Pro regime media outlets.
GLF rebels and ALF rebels have waged a separatist insurgency against the fledgling EPRDF led Junta based in Addis Ababa for many years, with hope of liberating there respective regions from the decades long Ethiopian occupation.
The peace deal Ethiopia’s Government signed with ALF and GLF rebels in Eritrea comes a few months after the ONLF, Ginbot 7 and OLF faction led by Dawuud Ibsa signed similar peace deals with the Government.
