Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) have released a statement on there official Twitter handle claiming the Al Shabaab leadership is undergoing factional fighting.

In a statement published via Twitter, NISA claims the rift between the Militant leadership is growing. This apparent rift has led to the resignation of Muuse Macaalin. The head chief of Al Shabaab’s Intelligence apparatus overseeing the capital Mogadishu.

NISA goes further and claims Muuse Macaalin is closely aligned with Mahad Karaate. The deputy leader of Al Shabaab whose currently at odds with the head leader Abu Abaayda.

As a result, the indifferences between both sides has led to Muuse Macaalin resigning as the Al Shabaab’s shadow Intelligence chief presiding over Mogadishu in a show of solidarity with Mahad Karaate according to NISA.

The latest claims made by NISA have not been independently confirmed. Nor has the militant group Al Shabaab addressed these latest accusations from NISA.

Somalia’s National Intelligence & Security Agency (NISA) in recent months has been under heavy scrutiny as the security situation in the country rapidly deteriorates.

Accusations of Al Shabaab infiltration have also been leveled against NISA following the highly controversial appointment of Fahad Yassin as the chief of intelligence. A former Al Jazeera journalist with ties to Qatari Intelligence and Jihadist groups throughout the Horn of Africa.
