A shady encounter between two armed gunmen wearing military attire and a Bajaaj driver left two bystanders wounded in the Somali capital of Mogadishu.

Eyewitnesses that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal the incident occurred in the vicinity of the Ceel Gaab junction.

A Bajaaj driver was said to have been driving through the Ceel Gaab junction when he spotted two men both wielding AK-47 assault rifles and wearing military attire resembling government troops.

Upon spotting both armed men coming in his direction, the Bajaaj driver immediately slowed down the motor vehicle he was operating and jumped from the wheel, than began fleeing from the scene, according to eyewitnesses.

As the Bajaaj driver fled on foot, his motor vehicle veered onto the side walk hitting two bystanders.

Than one of the two armed men wearing military attire immediately fled, while the second one remained according to eyewitnesses at the scene.

The remaining armed gunmen was detained shortly later by security forces stationed in the nearby area that arrived after the commotion and identified the armed man as a government soldier.

Security sources that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal upon the soldier being identified, he was immediately transferred to a police precinct in the Xamar Jajab district where he remains at the moment under arbitrary detention.

However just hours after the soldier was detained, the head of the security precinct in Mogadishu’s Siinaay neighborhood whom sources simple identified as “Taliyaha Saldhiga Siinaay” arrived at the security precinct in Xamar Jajab demanding the release of the soldier in custody, claiming that was one of his men.

It’s not clear at the moment if the soldier was released since the situation is still unfolding at the moment. The whereabouts of the remaining soldier and Bajaaj driver that fled earlier remains a mystery.

However a family member of the Bajaaj driver identified as Aweys Amin that spoke with Halgan Media correspondents in Mogadishu this afternoon reveals that the two armed soldiers had intentions of abducting his nephew, when asked why, he refused to dwell further into detail.

Aweys Amiin who once worked as a member of the Banaadir Regional Administration (BRA) stated that many of the security forces currently operating in Mogadishu are routinely involved in extortion and other illicit activities but was hesitant on answering, if weather his nephew and the soldier currently under custody in Xamar Jajab had any involvement in such activities.
