Ethiopia recorded its 11th confirmed case of COVID-19 commonly referred to as the Cornonavirus. The announcement came after two more individuals where diagnosed with the disease.

For the most part, the vast majority of victims in the country are foreign nationals or individuals who’ve come in contact with foreign nationals. Ethiopia’s health ministry revealed those infected with the disease have been isolated and quarantined.

Ethiopia currently has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the region, followed by Kenya with 6 and both Somalia and Eritrea with one confirmed case each. Experts on the matter are concerned with the spread of the Coronavirus in Ethiopia.

A densely populated federation of nations such as Ethiopia with a population of over 100 million can lead to disaster if the COVID-19 spreads. Countries such as Italy and Spain are averaging hundreds of deaths per day and have only a third of Ethiopia’s population.

As of the moment, the federal government of Ethiopia is yet to implement any concrete initiatives to tackle the spread of COVID-19, which has many worried. Ethiopia routinely suffers from various disease outbreaks on a yearly basis but are unable to even deter the most curable diseases such as Cholera, Malaria and Measles. Experts warn if COVID-19 isn’t addressed fast enough, than it might infect large segments of the country.
