Dirdhaba Mayor Ibrahim Osman resigned from his post today, after being in office for the past three years. He had been in the position only for the last three years.

The city council called a meeting to accept the Mayor’s resignation and replace him with Mahdi Gurre according to contacts within the administration.

The change of leadership in Dirdhaba comes as tension between the indigenous Somali population and Oromo settlers continue to rise, as tit for tat skirmishes plague the city.
