Confirmed reports received from the Ogaden reveal Ethiopian troops have begun disarming civilians in the village of Sandacare, which is situated outside the strategic Somali border town of Tuliguuleed in Fafaan province.
Local contacts reveal Ethiopian ground forces entered the town tonight and demanded villagers hand over there firearms. Upon the villagers refusing to lay down there arms, the Ethiopian troops began detaining civilians as they searched homes throughout the rural village. A total of 18 Klashnikov (AK-47) assault rifles where seized in the operation.
These latest developments come as an already rapidly deteriorating situation in the town of Tuliguuleed and the surrounding villages continues to get worse. The area has already been attacked on three separate occasions this week as a result of cross border raids by warring Oromo militias. To make matters worse a heavy movement of Oromo militia fighters and paramilitary forces is being reported in the nearby Oromo-occupied Somali border town known as Jinicsani, which remains infested with Oromo militants.
The repeated cross border raids targeting the Somali border town of Tuliguuleed and the surrounding rural villages along with Ethiopian troops disarming civilians tonight is more than alarming but a sign that there is well coordinated campaign of terror being simultaneously waged by the neighboring Oromo Regional State and Federal Government of Ethiopia against the indigenous Somali inhabitants in the area surrounding Tuliguuleed.
