Local contacts in eastern Ogaden based in the city of Wardheer reveal a heavy movement of Liyuu Police paramilitaries in the city today following clashes that erupted in the city yesterday between local clans.

Halgan Media correspondents say the Liyuu Police where spotted throughout the city in droves to clamp down on warring clans within the city and the surrounding area. A total of three people where wounded yesterday as a result of a land/territorial dispute that turned violent.

The tension in the city of Wardheer and other parts of Doolo province are due to clan disputes over land and the distribution of power in the province by the Somali Regional State (Ogaden) based in Jigjiga. Many believe the president Mustafa Omar (Cagjar) has underestimated the clan dynamics in the region, which have so far had violant consequences.

We will keep you updated with the latest developments and updates from the region.
