On the early hours of Wednesday December 12th heavy artillery rained down on the city of Moyaale in Ogaden, as Ethiopian Govt backed Oromo paramilitaries stormed the border town.

A vicious onslaught besieged the town as Oromo paramilitary forces went door to door gunning down Somali civilians and maiming women and children in broad daylight. Smoke was billowing through the sky as hundreds of homes and shops where burned down.

A total of 15 civilians where killed with over 60 wounded. The wounded survivors where treated in makeshift clinics in alleyways. Oromo paramilitary militias and armed Oromo factions continue to launch cross border raids indiscriminately targeting Somali inhabited towns on the Ogaden-Oromo border region.

Survivors of the masscre have directly informed Halgan Media that these heavily armed Oromo paramilitary forces where wearing uniforms of the neighboring Oromo Regional State, which is under direct rule of the OPDO Junta, which is the same political party Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed hails from. The Ethiopian government led by Abiy Ahmed  has once again refused to comment on these reoccurring massacres being perpetrated by the OPDO Junta against Somalis in Ogaden.

The Ogaden which is an exclusively Somali and Muslim inhabited region, has been under a blockade and embargo since 2007. Foreign media and foreign journalist along foreign aid agencies and foreign NGO’s have been banned from entering the region. The subsequent media blackout has turned the Ogaden into an open air prison, which is reminiscent of the killing fields in occupied Kashmir.

We will keep you updated with the latest developments and updates from the region.
