Ethiopian troops reportedly killed two civilians in a shooting today in the Somali border town of Diridhaba, according to local residents.
Both victims are said to be Somali and where killed in the Dhuuro Keela neighbored, when Ethiopian troops indiscriminately opened fire on civilians.
The deceased have been identified as a male and female. The relationship between both victims is not clear.
However it’s been revealed the Somalis clashed with Ethiopian troops prior to the exchange of gunfire. Residents that spoke Halgan Media reveal Ethiopian troops attempting to illegally seize merchandise belonging to local Somali businessesmen.
The attempt at the illegal seizure forced some of the bystanders to hurl rocks at the Ethiopian military personnel. The troops responded by indiscriminately opening fire on civilians.
Eyewitnesses reveal women, children and the elderly where forced to scatter just to avoid of hail if bullets. Once the smoke cleared two civilians where laying in a pool of blood.
Ethiopia’s federal government and local authorities are yet to address the wanton killing of innocent Somali civilians. In the past the city of Dirdhaba and it’s indigenous Somali inhabitants have been besieged by Oromo Paramilitaries and allied militias with full backing of the state
