Mogadishu (Halgan Media) – A military convoy carrying Foreign troops from Uganda struck a roadside bomb while on patrol outside the town of Qoryooleey in the Lower Shabelle province of Somalia.

The Ugandan troops where said to have been on patrol in the village of Danoow, when there military convoy encountered the roadside bomb. The subsequent blast caused the military convoy to become engulfed in flames.

Following the blast, sources reveal the Ugandans cordoned off the area until further reinforcements arrived from the nearby town of Qoryooleey.

The armed group Al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the roadside bomb attack on the Foreign forces in a statement aired on Radio Andulus, which is an Al Shabaab affiliated media outlet in Somalia.

The town of Qoryooleey hosts a Ugandan military base, housing a large number of contingents from the Ugandan National Defense Forces (UNDF).

However the Ugandan troops based in Qoryooleey have been under the siege of Al Shabaab for a number of years. The surrounding villages and localities adjacent to Qoryooleey are under the complete rule of insurgents.

Foreign forces, in this case the Ugandans that dare to venture outside Qoryooleey are at risk of coming under attack from the militants or encountering an IED/roadside bomb as seen with the latest incident in the village of Danoow.

The government of Uganda has well over several thousand troops occupying Somalia under the guise America’s war on terror, which is all being funded by US tax dollars and in return causes immense suffering for the war torn and stateless Somali nation.
