Somali government troops opened fire on a young women in the city of Baydhabo in Bay province according to local contacts.

Sources that spoke with Halgan Media on condition of anonymity reveal contingents hailing from the 60th division of the Somali National Army (SNA) stationed in Baydhabo opened fire on an unsuspecting women.

Its not clear what triggered the shooting. However it’s been revealed the women suffered three gun shot wounds to the stomach at close range. Local contacts have identified the victim as Iqra Abdi Abdullahi.

The victim was immediately rushed to one of the local hospitals in Baydhabo where she later died. Medical sources confirm the victim was AB+ and bled out on the hospital bed as a result of not having access to an adequate blood transfusion.

As previously stated, the troops that opened fire on the victim are said to hail from the 60th division, which is a Somali military contingent trained by the United Kingdom.

Despite support from the international community, in particular Western powers, the Somali National Army (SNA) routinely carry out grotesque human rights abuses and in many cases, indiscriminate killings of civilians.

The shooting death of Iqra Abdi Abdullahi in Baydhabo comes just several weeks after government forces carried out a series of rapes targeting women and children in the town of Janaale in the Lower Shabelle province, which sparked public backlash.

These repeated atrocities carried out by government forces has led to a growing mistrust between the public and the nation’s security apparatus, which mainly consist of Ex militiamen and child soldiers who’ve carried out countless atrocities in the past.
