A peaceful demonstration in the town of Dhobaweyn detesting the arrest of a prominent Sheekh turned violent when Liyuu Police paramilitaries indiscriminately opened fire on unarmed demonstrators. The incident occurred mid afternoon according to local residents.
The protests where sparked after Liyuu Police paramilitaries arrested a prominent Sheekh in the town identified as yesterday and whisked him away to jail with reasonable cause. Sheikh Muxumad Deeq still remains under arbitrary attention, which has sparked massive protests in the town.
The demonstrations which where peaceful took a turn for the worse, when Liyuu Police paramilitaries indiscriminately opened fire on civilians leaving one person dead and several others wounded.
Locals in the town have informed the Halgan Media service desk that the situation still remains tense following the incident. The provincial administration overseeing Qorahay province is yet to address this wanton killing of civilians under there watch.
